Stop The Frustration! How To Communicate Better With Someone You Love

Do you lose your cool when communicating with a loved one? For some reason, when you are having a conversation with someone close to you, your spouse, children, parents, even friends you tend to get frustrated easier. Is it the way you are communicating? Let’s find out.

This subject is one of my favorites. You can probably guess that my other favorite subject is dealing with thoughts and mindfulness. I came up with these topics because personally, I have experienced the difficulties that many of you feel. I share my insights on how I’ve improved. Communicating effectively with loved ones can be a challenge, but not impossible. I have turned my frustration into the catalyst to improve.

Below I will share with you five simple tips on how to improve your communication skills.

I learned that listening is a big part of the communication process. Instead of waiting for your turn to talk, take the time to hear what they have to say. It helps with the flow of the conversation. Remember, the other person is looking for validation, hear them out and allow them to express their thoughts.

I use to be terrified to ask questions, but not anymore. Go ahead don’t be afraid to ask. It is better to understand and to be understood. If you are explaining a topic, ask questions to make sure your listener knows what you are trying to say.

Do not argue

If you sense that your conversation is escalating into a debate match, stop take control and do not give into arguing. Take a deep breath and do not respond with haste. Either pick up the conversation later or just drop it all together. It’s not worth it.

Make an effort, take control and accept the power of the pause. Don’t feel that you need to respond quickly. Always take the time to answer, because it’s ok to pause.

Don’t finish other people's sentences

It’s hard and annoying. Refrain from interrupting and finishing others sentences. How? Just let the other person complete their thought and respect what they are saying.

In summary, these tips are perfect for every conversation. Take this opportunity to practice with your close friends and family. It’s worth the effort because loved ones will always be there for you.

Much Love,
