How To Practice Self Love When You Need It

January 16, 2018

Your family, job and your goals are essential, but without you, things are not relevant.  Today’s treasure is about Self Love.  It’s time to start taking care of yourself.  What do these three things have in common, “Self-Love, Self-Care, and Self-Worth? You guessed it, YOU! What you do and say to yourself matters.  Are you ready to be the person you are meant to be?

It took me a long time to realize how important I am.  Sure, I love my family, my wife and my work, but if I don’t take care of myself not only do I suffer, everything I love around me suffers.  So I made the decision and started taking care of myself.

Below I will share with you what has helped me in my journey to take better care of myself.  My decision to take myself seriously was the best decision I have made.  It’s time you make a bold move and start knowing who you are.

These tips work for me, they might not work for you, but they are things that you already know, but action is what takes you to where you want to be.  Take action today and read, analyze and do what works for you.

1. Set An Intention

Focus on what you want to accomplish.  “The sages of India observed thousands of years ago that our destiny is ultimately shaped by our deepest intentions and desires. The classic Vedic text known as the Upanishads declares, “You are what your deepest desire is. As your desire is, so is your intention. As your intention is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny.” Deepak Chopra.  One thing to remember is that if you know what you want or desire it will grow inside of you like a flower.  Know what you want and set an intention.

2. Change What You Feed Your Mind

I learned from Tony Robbins many things, but one of his lessons talks about what are you feeding your mind.  I analyzed it, and it is so right.  I have been feeding my mind for years good and bad things, but when I started feeding it powerful stuff like reading personal development books, meditation books, watching inspiring videos I noticed that it what I was taking in mattered.  And I continue to do more of it everyday.  What are you feeding your mind? Is it helping you grow? If it’s not, then change it.  That is the best form of self love there is, try it.

3. Create Your Environment

By simply rearranging a couple of things at home, or creating a sacred space for you to enjoy helps.  Like a meditation corner, or a quiet room.  Light up scented candles, incense or oils.  Do whatever it takes to create a space that brings you peace and joy.

4. Learn Something New

I am a lifelong learner.  I remember my cousin telling me years ago, “You are always in school,” and that always stuck with me.  Yes, now I don’t need school I bring school to me.  If I don’t know something and I want to learn more about it, I buy books, I check out books from the library, (now I do it virtually, that’s cool) and I learn from the best out there.  Yes, I am always in school and I will continue to learn new things.  What about you? Do you take the time to learn new things? Trust me when I say that it is the best investment you can give yourself.  What a better way to express self love to you, than to learn something new.

5. Do Things You Enjoy

It’s time to take a sheet of paper and write out everything that you like to do that brings you joy.  I mean everything that helps you be that happy person.  After writing the list, read it out loud everyday, and start picking one by one and start taking action.  Do something on that list every week.  You will start feeling so good that you are going to wonder why don’t I do this more often.  Go do it now.

6. Create Affirmations

Some people do not believe in affirmations.  I get it, if you are feeling down it’s tough to get to that good feeling place. But, you have to start somewhere to get closer to feeling good about yourself.  So why not start with saying good things about yourself to yourself? Remember, what you focus on grows, so might as well focus on something good for a change.

7. Declutter

The clearer your environment the better you are going to feel.  Get rid of things that are not serving you.  Things, people and work. Try simplifying your area and see how good you will feel.

In summary, It doesn’t matter what you pick from the list above, what matters is how you feel when you do them.  Start by doing what makes you feel good, happy and joyful.  I will continue to share with you what works for me; I will continue to study and learn as much as I can to bring you a new treasure each week.  Remember, Life is full of Treasures That can make you happy.  If you would like a 15 minutes mindset transformation chat, please contact me.
